"I used to work in the guiding industry, and the Khimera quickly became the one lifejacket I could do everything with. I’ve worn it boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing and it works well for each activity. The fit is close to the body so it provides a bit of extra warm for your core without feeling bulky. And if I ever found myself in a safety scenario, I know I’d still have the mobility to swim without the COâ canister going off unless I chose to pull it for that extra flotation. For me, it’s the most versatile PFD I’ve owned."

"This hybrid PFD is a great alternative to traditional or fully inflatable PFDs. Like all Mustang gear I have had, the quality is top notch. Very happy with the weight and fit, a good compromise of safety and mobility. Just two minor quibbles, of which only one can really be addressed. First, because the inflatable membrane extends across the shoulder straps, these awkwardly bunch up when using the adjustment straps. Second, the front pocket is pretty slim so storage is pretty bare—will definitely need something else for phone, snacks, etc."
"Great pfd. Very small form factor but works really well when inflated. As with all other inflatable pfds, it is not recommended for weak or non-swimmers and that's no doubt true with this too as the uninflated buoyancy couldn't hold my head out of the water at all. Given that, I kinda wish it had a little more foam in it (although the form factor would suffer). When inflated, it puts the user in a good position leaned back position and actually seemed to turn me right side up when testing. Did not ride up either. Very happy with this. Two complaints though, which I think I can live with just fine: the pocket on front is too small for a modern cellphone in a waterproof pouch (cellphones keep getting bigger). Also, the inflation tube rubs against my chest and is uncomfortable - I imagine this can be moved or made more flush with some additional foam or shaping."
